How to Get Your Squarespace Website Recommended by ChatGPT [2026]

2026-10-067 min readBy Andrea Block

People now ask AI tools who to book, hire and visit. Here’s how to make your Squarespace site one they can read, trust and recommend.

ChatGPT recommends businesses it can clearly understand and that other sources back up. On Squarespace, that means: let AI crawlers read your site, give each service its own page, answer clients’ questions in plain words, and make your details match everywhere else online.

1. Make sure AI tools can read your site

Squarespace has a crawler setting that can block known AI crawlers. If it’s switched on, tools like ChatGPT can’t read your pages, no matter how good they are. Check your site’s crawler settings and decide on purpose. For most small businesses that want to be recommended, letting AI crawlers in is the right call.

2. Give every service its own page

One “Services” page with a list of everything you do is hard for AI to quote. A page for each service, with who it’s for, what’s included, what it costs and real examples, gives AI tools something specific to repeat. A med spa should have a page for each treatment. A law firm should have a page for each practice area.

3. Answer the questions clients ask AI

Write down the questions people ask before they choose you: “How much does it cost?”, “Do you take walk-ins?”, “How long does it take?”. Then answer each one in the first sentence or two of the right page, before the details. AI tools favor short, direct answers they can lift as-is.

Quick test: ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity three questions your clients would ask, like “best facial in Natick” or “family dentist near Framingham.” Note who gets named and which sites they cite. That’s your starting map.

4. Add an FAQ section, with matching structured data

An FAQ section on your key pages does double duty: it answers clients and gives AI tools clean question-and-answer pairs. Squarespace adds some structured data automatically. For FAQ markup, add your own with a code block, on plans that allow custom code.

5. Make your details match everywhere

AI tools cross-check. Your business name, address, phone, hours and services should read the same on your website, Google Business Profile, Yelp, industry directories and social profiles. Mismatches make you look less certain, and AI tools pass over uncertain answers.

6. Give them proof to repeat

Reviews, results, credentials and press mentions are what AI tools quote when they explain why they recommend someone. Put your best proof on your site in plain text, not only inside images, and keep collecting reviews on Google.

What not to worry about

You don’t need a special “AI plugin” or a separate website for AI. The same clear, well-structured site that ranks on Google is the one AI tools recommend. If your site is on Squarespace, you already have a solid base to build on.

Common questions

How long does it take to show up in ChatGPT?

It varies. Google often reflects changes within weeks. AI answers can take a few months, because they draw on many sources beyond your site.

Can I pay to be recommended by ChatGPT?

No. AI answers aren’t ads. They’re based on what the tools can find and trust about you, which is why your website and listings matter so much.

Does Squarespace work for AI search?

Yes. Squarespace sites can be read and cited by AI tools like any other site. What matters is how clearly your pages are written and structured, and whether AI crawlers are allowed in.
